I have lately spent a lot of time helping Redpoint members and other clients manage their ever-growing archive of images. It is the least fun of all aspects of photography, but probably the most important. As our cameras shoot larger and larger files, and hard drives become obsolete or just fail, we have to continually manage how best to store our files so as not to lose them.
This article by Dan Carr explains the 3-2-1 Method of archiving better than any I’ve read. He’s a pro who understands the requirements of managing a lot of data. Everyone has different needs, but this article is a great primer on what you need to know. Check it out.
