Save These Dates

Still in the midst of that new year desire to set new goals and plan ahead, we’ve come up with a lot of exciting events for the year and beyond. Please look over this line-up and let us know what you’d like to attend. If the dates conflict with your schedule, tell us now. There’s still time for adjustments. Email Shari

Redpoint Gatherings – Social & Educational

February 10, July & October The first gathering will be on February 10th, 7 – 9 p.m. Plan to bring photos to share. Our suggestion box has been filled with requests to get together more often to socialize and see what other members are up to. So we put a few dates on the calendar with more to come as we work on details. The gatherings will include the chance to meet our new members, share photos, group critiques, planning a Collective exhibit or portfolio, an education component and plenty of time to socialize.

Peru – Dates to be determined We have an excellent source for Peru, and are currently working on an itinerary. If you’re interested, please let us know. San Miguel de Allende, Mexico – June 2014 June 11-14 | The last big festival of the season – Loony Day is on June 13. We’re hoping fireworks are involved because no one does mini explosions as well as this town. It’s a great place to photograph and explore. Bhutan – September 2014 7 days | We are always asked what inspires us to return to the same place again and again. Maybe because it’s the most beautiful, unspoiled landscape in the world and it’s filled with the most delightful people we’ve ever met. Or maybe it’s just because there’s something in the air that makes us really happy there. Come see for yourself. It’s a wonderful time of year to be there, and likely will include a festival as well as some new places even we haven’t seen yet. Burma/Myanmar – January/February 2015 10 days – Late January – Early February | If you haven’t seen Brud’s book, or Shari’s web gallery of Burma images from this trip, check it out. This is a remarkable place for photography and most likely our last trip to this country, so get on board now. We really look forward to going back. Iceland – Spring/Summer 2015 7 – 10 days | We have a great resource to help plan this trip and after seeing ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ we can’t wait to see these amazing landscapes for ourselves.

Hero Weekends Details Coming Soon | Our last Hero Weekend trip to meet National Geographic photographer Joel Sartore was such a hit, it will be hard to follow with anyone as good as him, but we’re working on it. Details coming soon. Utah Canyons – April April 24 – 27 | Arches and Canyonlands National Parks in Southeast Utah offer some of the southwest’s most outstanding photographic opportunities. Arches National Park boasts the highest concentration of natural arches in the world, as well as a stunning display of sandstone fins, balanced rocks, and petrified sand dunes. The reddish Entrada sandstone from which most of the formations are eroded glows with an almost unbelievable brightness in the low western sun. With the help of photographer/guide Branson Reynolds we’ll explore these stunning landscapes and work with him in the middle of the day to get his advice on processing the files to bring out the best of our sunrise and sunset shots.
